School Board Salaries Cut???

In a recent proposal in the Florida legislature by state senator Steve Wise, chair of the Education Appropriations Committee, school board salaries for large districts such as Hillsborough would be decreased to $29,000 annually, from $40,000.

The $29,000 figure is the same as state representatives make yearly.

“Since they ran for the position, I hope they didn’t run for the money,” Wise said of current board members. “I hope they ran to help young people be successful in life.”

Wise believes this change would save about $1.5 million in educational funding.

Well, ain’t that a hoot. This is a subject that I’ve railed about in the past. We all know April Griffin and Susan Valdes could never make $40 grand a year in a real job. They’ve never held one and had no prospects to do so without being elected.

Must be a sad thing to watch Humpster and Dumpster cry.

I wonder if that “Honorable” title they both love so much will hold the same value at $29,000 yearly.
