Those Pesky Readers

Those who take the time to comment to this site are a special bunch….and I thank them. Recently, I’ve been called a drunk and a sore loser. Oh yeah??? Your mudda wears combat boots.

To be clear, we all know the sub-name for this site is sourgrapes.com. And I see no reason to insult my friend Jim Beam. He’s got feelings too.

I am glad to know, though, that I must be striking a nerve with the Valdes/Griffin crowd. To be honest, I did not realize they were so beloved within the educational community. With that thought in mind, let me add a few more words.

April Griffin for County Commission???

In this week’s La Gaceta, Patrick Manteiga began making a case for April Griffin to challenge Ken Hagan for the open 2010 county commission seat.

As usual, Manteiga’s talking points were wrong, except for confirming that the “non-partisan” school board member Griffin is actually a Democrat. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that) ;-)

Manteiga also says Griffin “is not yet biting” at the suggestions that she run for that open seat.

I think Manteiga knows more than he is telling. After all, the Manteiga family and the Griffin family socialize, vacation together, and share similar political sympathies. Patrick has been Griffin’s campaign advisor, and Patrick’s wife and daughter both contributed to April’s past campaign.

As a result, I believe Manteiga knows there are a few skeletons in Griffin’s closet that may surface during her next election, be that for school board or county commission. No doubt he’s advised Griffin to wait and see if anything surfaces that can be explained away quickly.

I guess I will have to be extra patient with the documents I’ve obtained and will only disclose them come endorsement time.
